March 2020: One for the Books.
We all know that normalcy in the world has definitely changed for a while. A lot of things have stifled or altered beyond our control. It seems to be an unsure time, as no one really knows when things will be routine again. So I've decided to make a list of my reflections during this time.
I think it's a perfect time to:
...Be content. Be grateful for what you have. Don't focus on what's missing. I've been wanting to binge on so much. Take food for example. I have a lot but I find myself craving what's not in the house. But this virus makes me be more aware of what's a need versus a want. Many things that I just want are not worth the risk, and then I realize I can go without it.
...Write your goals. It's a perfect time to make plans for what you want in life. Start that budget, make that schedule, do that research. Write some to-do lists. What steps can you take to complete or start what you want to accomplish during this time at home?
...Be Creative. It's a weird time. You may be limited, but stretch yourself to do things out of the norm. We've already seen a lot of people using technology to still reach others for their different purposes; online DJs, online church services, online concerts, online story time, online workouts, online classes. Just do it.
...Learn/do something new. Some of us are home and it's a great time to learn a new skill, write that book, learn a new language, start that blog or podcast, watch a video on how to do something you've always wanted to do. Since a lot of things can't be done due to lockdown, search for some DIYs.

...Do NOTHING. Some of our jobs have had us running running running. It's a good time to catch up on rest. This time is a good time to do, but don't neglect the fact that you also have this time to not do. And that is absolutely okay.
...Pray. There's always so much to pray for. People who are sick, who have COVID-19, people who have to go out and put themselves at risk, and people who are at home as well. Families of those who are sick, people who are worried, people who are okay. Making a list of people would still leave some group out. EVERYONE could use some prayer during this time!
...Read. Read and finish that book. Read the Bible. Read to your children.
...Detox. For the most part, people are home. It's a good time to deep clean your body by juicing, cooking at home instead of going for fast food. Deep clean your mind by meditating, journaling, turning the tv off. Deep clean your house.
...Be kind. If you must go out, be kind and gentle to everyone, even if they aren't to you. If you stay in, be kind even online. Geesh, what's the benefit from being a jerk?
...Catch up with friends and family. You may be sad because you can't readily visit people like usual. Plans for trips or parties may have been canceled or postponed. Marco Polo, Duo, Facetime, Facebook video, Google hangout, texts, phone calls, there are a number of ways to connect with people other than meeting physically. Sadly some people will still act too "busy" to make time for you. Try to focus on those that are willing to connect.

...Catch up on movies and shows. There are plenty!
...Reconsider telling people who are worried or concerned that they lack faith. Don't use this time to scare people into getting right with God. Show love and hope. But every crisis isn't a sign that Jesus is coming back. Jesus is coming back. Period. Every moment is a time to share the gospel show God's love to others. Every catastrophe isn't a sign that God is mad at us or trying to get our attention. Be normal. Do your job as a Christian all the time, not just during a pandemic.
...STAY HOME! If at all possible, stay inside. Be cautious. Even with family and friends.
Thanks so much Charese!!
